Western Cape cultural tours
The Western Cape is arguably the most beautiful and varied of
our country’s provinces. It holds all the magic of South Africa
in its endless beaches, indigenous forests, historic wine estates
and scorched semi-desert.
Consequently, it is the most visited area in the country, with
a well-developed tourist infrastructure and outstanding natural
beauty.
The first port of call for most visitors to the Cape is the beautiful
Winelands region, with the historic towns of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek
and Paarl stretching across a range of mountains and surrounded
by old wine estates.
Western Cape attractions
The Breede River Valley is best known for its farming,
with isolated settlements tucked away along its river banks.
The Southern coast begins with Hermanus, which offers the best
land based whale watching in the world. Further east you’ll
find the celebrated Garden Route, an area of endless sandy beaches,
nature reserves, lush forests and tourist-friendly seaside towns.
The West Coast is far less visited.
Lying north of Cape Town, it consists of a wild coast of fynbos-covered
sand dunes, sun-bleached beaches and remote fishing villages.
The Cederberg Mountains are further inland, a rugged range riddled
with ancient San rock art and offering some of the best hiking in
the country.
