Kwazulu Natal cultural tours
Kwazulu Natal is one of South Africa’s most popular holiday
destinations and also its greenest province, extends from the Drakensberg
Mountains in the northwest to the humid sub-tropical coast in the
southeast.
Kwazulu Natal attractions
The mountains in the uKhahlamba-Brakensberg National Park rise
steeply to over 3000m and, although the park doesn’t have
as large an amount of game as other reserves in the province, it
does have an extensive network of relatively undiscovered trails.
Zululand is another fascinating area, where traditional Zulu lifestyles
are still in practice and have endured the onset of the 20th century.
The game reserves here are amongst South Africa’s finest.
Hluhluwe and Umfolozi Game Reserve is the most well known and has
become famous for its rhino conservation program.
Maputoland, lying to the north of Zululand, is also an extraordinary
area of undisturbed African wilderness, with remote game parks and
pristine coastlines not generally on the tourist trail. The variety
of game on offer in the area is on par with Kruger but the parks
are less crowded. There are also numerous battlefield sites. The
Isandlwana, Rorke’s Drift and Blood River are amongst the
most evocative in the area. As if all of this were not enough, KwaZulu
Natal’s beaches have been an attraction to tourists for many
years.
